Snow day #2...I decided that even though we weren't in school, I could still be productive. So, I decided that today was the day I was finally going to put my sewing machine to good use....I made curtains! Yay! :)
So what if the woman at the material store smirked her way through my material purchase-
How many yards do you need?
Uh...I don't know. Here's how big my windows are. What do you suggest?
(Smirking) Well, do you want them lined? Do you want them gathered or just straight?
(Me giving her a blank stare) Uh, straight? (I'm picturing having to sew some sort of pleats to make these "gatherings" that she speaks of).
So, you just want them to hang there?
(Getting the idea that that is the wrong answer) Uh...no?
So you want them gathered...?
Sure.
Her teaching me how much to cut and what width my hems should be went pretty much the same way. I'm pretty sure she was equally amused by me and worried that I was just going to hack my would be curtains to pieces.
So what if it took me 3 hours to make one set of curtains because I had to attempt to make every hem exactly straight and equal measure (an obsession I quickly gave up for the 2nd set of curtains I constructed). The point is, I did it...and it only took me 2 hours on Saturday morning to do both the curtains AND a valance for the kitchen door!
Voila! My very first project!
