When I was little, I would come home from school and head to the kitchen where I would climb up onto the counter and dig the bag of M&Ms (the giant 1 lbs bag) out of the cabinet. I would pour myself a bowl of candy and then carefully re-twist the tie around the package and put it back. Then, I would take my bowl downstairs and plop in front of the TV.
With the USA Cartoon Express on in the background, I would meticulously arrange my M&Ms into pictures on top of the bean bag TV tray that served as my artist's canvas. Then, one by one, I would remove an M&M from my picture and pop it in my mouth.
Today, while taking a much needed break from grade conferences with students, I revisited my youth....
